Indoor Garden
My indoor garden is a lively mix of citrus trees, clivias, houseplants, and hanging baskets tucked safely inside for the winter. More than a few AeroGarden hydroponic setups hum along in the background, supplying fresh salads during the half of the year when Ohio’s cold keeps the outdoor beds dormant. A bay tree stands guard, flanked by two dwarf Cavendish bananas, several fig starters, and a slightly gangly dragon fruit stretching toward the grow lights in the sunroom.

Once the last frost date arrives, most of them will make their annual migration outdoors for the summer, and I’ll happily reclaim a bit of walking space inside. Until then, being surrounded by green, growing things is my favorite way to soften the edges of winter.
